Public Chicago

Chicago

2011

Project Manager at Gabellini Sheppard Associates

When hotelier Ian Schrager purchased the landmark Ambassador East Hotel on Chicago’s Gold Coast, the assignment was to develop a concept for the public areas, including the main lobby, the library lounge, and the legendary Pump Room, the former haunt of luminaries including Frank Sinatra, Bette Davis, Humphrey Bogart, and many others.

Reinvented as Public Chicago, the hotel's design scheme relies on an understated color palette, modern furnishings, and intricate lighting to highlight the newly restored classical details, while imparting a contemporary lifestyle overlay to all public amenity spaces.
